Goodbye August, hello "ber" season

Tomorrow morning, I expect to hear Christmas songs played on our local TV or from my neighborhood, and people who subscribed to TFC might also hear that (I'm just guessing.)

It's nearly Christmas!!! Why? because "ber" season will officially start tomorrow.. Yepeeey!.
For non-Filipinos, I know it's too early to start Christmas countdown but we're so dang excited about Christmas and New Year.

I'm excited too... See you soon Santa!

Managing Asthma

Having an asthma is not a funny thing. You gotta take limitations with what you eat, do or whatsoever things that may trigger your asthma.

Janine already had this chronic lung disease (I posted about her first asthma attack here). My husband also told me that he had experienced asthma attacks when he was younger, and he was even hospitalized because of that. And oh, include me in the list cos I am asthmatic too. It started when I was a kid, said my mother. They actually believed that my asthma started when I fell from the top of the cabinet. Yeah that's true, a lot of people here in the Philippines (particularly the oldies) believed that when a kid falls from a hammock, a crib or anything elavated will cause this what they call "piang" (I don't know if there's an exact english explanation for this but it's closely related to having a fractured/cracked/injured bone or some specific parts of your body that gets affected after a hard fall) I don't know if it's real or just an old Filipino belief, but as far as I can remember, Janine also started having asthma attack a couple of hours after she fell so badly from her crib down to the hard floor (I did considered that reason though it's quite hard to believe).

Okay now let's move on.
Yesterday, I did a little research regarding asthma attack on kids particularly, Managing Asthma.
Good thing I found this info from

Identifying and Controlling Asthma Triggers, so here are some common triggers:
  • allergens, including microscopic dust mites present in house dust, carpets, and pillows; animal dander and saliva; pollens and grasses; molds; foods; medications; and cockroaches
  • viral infections, including the common cold and the flu
  • irritants, including smoke, air fresheners, aerosols, paint fumes, hair spray, and perfumes
  • exercise
  • breathing in cold air
  • weather changes
The article also includes an asthma action plan to help control symptoms and flare-ups.

I will keep a hard copy of this... my instinct tells me to have one.

I don't want my little girl to spend another day at the hospital because I know how she hates that place and she hates the nebulizer, and I also hate being there too (I always feel like a prisoner when I'm in a hospital).
So whenever she gets asthma, I try to keep her calm. I don't let her cry or play too much.
I have also read my mother's old book of natural medications and it was stated there that milk, biscuits, breads, cereals and cookies (many are mentioned there, I just don't remember everything) are not good when you are currently experiencing asthma cos it will only cause mucus build-up that will worsen the condition - oh... this was really helpful!

So how do you manage asthma attack?

don't worry mom, I can manage this asthma. I am a strong girl, remember? and I am a cutie...

come on let's take a pose!

My Nightmare on Elm's Street

(photo from

When I was a kid, I have so many fears. Right until now, I still have them and I know it will linger in my consciousness unless I let go of it or face it!
However, facing your fear is one of the hardest part you could do to yourself.
Darkness is among those most feared things by many. It's either the literal term or things that are just symbolized by it. I have abnormal fear with snakes too (I feel uncomfortable even just uttering the word). When I say fear, I could probably give you many, but one bad thing I feared now is when a nightmare turns into reality. Can you imagine the world if that thing happens? It's like a Nightmare on Elm's Street!

Now lemme share you what had happened... Around 2am today, the tears that slide down my face had woken me up from a very very very bad dream. Yes it was really horrible and so far, that was the ugliest nightmare I've had.
I was inside this terrifying room of nightmare. What I saw was odd, I was involved in a religious ritual, it's like a brutal ritual, it's like a fraternity initiation but a little different. At first, it was just like a tomato throwing fight, then it turned out a little gruesome, we were beaten, then stones were thrown unto us and we were so hopeless. Then it turned out more bloody, we were chased by this big ugly man carrying an ax. I ran fast while carrying my little girl. Suddenly, that big guy hit my back with an ax, he did that many times. Then he did the same thing to my kid. He brutally murdered my little girl [ in my dream] (oh God I hope I could forget this nightmare). I cried so hard but all I heard was the evil laugh of the vicious man!

Luckily, when I was awakened, I saw my little girl sleeping so soundly at my side, I kissed and hugged her after that very bad dream.

*knock on wood

They miss you Mr. Sun

Mr. Sun! Mr. Sun! where are you?
Philippines is missing you.

If you're updated to current events, you probably know the current situation of Manila, Philippines. The intense rainfall that causes the massive floods. The mean storm that killed several lives. Another tragic incident that will mark in our hearts.

Now lemme share you these two photos I took a couple of days ago.

It's hard to imagine that this beautiful sunshine was only seen in our area.

Manila was doomed.
Has God forgotten these people or was this a wake up call? I really don't get it, but I pray to God that He may cover these areas with His merciful big hands.
I can't stand watching those pictures of people who were mainly affected by these deadly floods, particularly those children, oldies and sick people.

These photos were found via Google search

This incident made me realized that I am still "very" lucky this time.
I live in a very little city, with few small buildings (unlike the tall buildings and big malls in Manila) but this little town I live has so many great things that I could appreciate!

Working under pressure is something I really hate doing. I always wanted a "job well done" but it's kind of hopeless. It's a bit hard to tell your mind to keep calm when you are in this situation. It feels like you are endlessly watching the multiple reflections of shapes, colors and other patterns of a moving kaleidoscope. It is pretty (for you) right? but these patterns just burst in my head, therefore, I can hardly appreciate it's beauty.

I wanna tell myself, "have a rest sometime", but I still can't say that.
