Finger chewing... finger biting

Janine's everyday habit is biting and chewing her little fingers. I know this is normal but sometimes, it's quite annoying 'cos she sneaks her finger while nursing... grrr.
Mom, I'm thinking of something really yummy...

ahhh.. these fingers taste like banana...

uhm.. it taste so good...
oh jeez!!! these fingers are yummier than bananas..take a look mom.
and hey, why don't you take a hard bite like this?
oh s**t!  i thought that was not hard...

Kayleigh's inspiring story

In Loving Memory of Kayleigh
On April 24, The Doctors taped an episode with Aimee and Adam Freeman, the parents of Kayleigh Anne, born 12-weeks early on June 23, 2008 weighing slightly more than 1 pound.

In her first months of life, little Kayleigh overcame more obstacles than most of us face in an entire lifetime. Among her achievements, she triumphed through 248 procedures and seven major surgeries, including being the smallest person to undergo open-heart surgery.

On May 11, Kayleigh lost her battle for life.

The struggles and sacrifices Aimee and Adam faced and continue to face are documented in an episode of The Doctors airing Tuesday, May 13th. We feel so fortunate to have had the chance to get to know little Kayleigh during her all-too brief life, and wish the family our deepest condolences.

Teething signs

Teething may be stressful for parents and for babies. It's an indication of growth and progress in your baby's life. Teething is very new and distressing experience for children. As parents, it is important to identify this particular moment so that you will be sensitive to the stress followed with this pain.
Teething period for infant typically starts on their 6th or 7th month after their birth. And remember this there's no fixed teething calendar for the babies. Several infants may start teething untimely right after birth while other babies may teeth as overdue as a year and a half later.
Frequent teething signs and symptoms you may notice in the course of the teething process include:
  • ·         Excessive drooling
  • ·         Loud crying
  • ·         Change in sleeping behavior
  • ·         Loss of urge for food
  • ·         Continual gnawing
  • ·         Diarrhea
  • ·         (Some)Chin allergies
·         (Even)Ear aches
These are just typical symptoms. By rubbing a cool clean cloth on the gum area you can help your little ones relieve the discomfort. But also remember parents that you have to show your youngsters some love and care throughout this distressing time.

(I can’t wait to see Janine’s first tiny tooth)

rain...rain... go away!

We suppose to take our ‘Lil chinky out from the scab yesterday. But the weather wasn’t so friendly that day. (Poor Chinky, don’t worry Papa and I will take you out this Saturday or Sunday.)

Well, I’ll tell you, when she’s at home she’s kinda bored stiff and one thing I noticed about her, she’s ridiculously excited being outside. Haha! Well, I guess she is ready for some little adventures.  Hiyahhhh!

Ear piercing for Janine (ouch)

Our ‘Lil Chinky had her ear piercing, today.

What was her reaction? Well, you’re not a normal human if you’ll say “she laughed” or “she smiled” of course she shrieked so wildly but it was a success. At first, I was kinda hesitant about it because Janine is too young for that (I guess) but JB insisted on it, so I was a “powerless mama” that time (poor chinky, blame your papa).
JB and I were actually fighting about that few months ago, if we would give her that painful treat as early as possible or just wait ‘till she gets old enough to be ear-pierced. Finally, she got hers. Well, for your information, I got my ear piercing when I was grade 6, so I guess I was 11 or 12 years old that time (uhmp too old). But my ‘Lil Chinky got her piercing as early as 4 months (good for you Chinky). Now,  people will no longer be “misguided” with her true gender.

Sick chinky

Becoming a mom means having a lot of responsibilities. It’s also about testing your capabilities on how you deal with emergency situations in your life, in your family especially to your little ones. You will also lay another set of priorities in life and you‘ll learn to sacrifice things, and it’s true.
June 16, Thursday @ 8:30 am, Janine was again vaccinated with DPT and OPV (my mom was the one who brought her to the Health Center ‘cos I have a duty that day) and she got fever around 2 pm (said my mom). She was given paracetamol but couple of hrs later, her fever starts to get higher again. Around 6pm, she started crying so sickly and I pity her so much. She hasn’t got enough sleep that moment and her eyes were terribly tired. On the right leg area where the shot was given, there was slight soreness and redness and I guess it’s painful ‘cos she whimpers every time it is being touched by something. Her fever reached 38°C around 10 pm and I started to panic cos it might get higher; thank God I have her baby book (given by her first pediatrician), where I read about the topic regarding baby’s fever.

Janine fell asleep around 12 a.m but it wasn’t a straight sleep for her and for me ‘till morning. At 5 am, yesterday, I checked her temperature but she’s still hot, so then I decided to be out from work that day.
I was actually wondering why she’s still sick and I was thinking that she might feel better on the afternoon and I was so confident about that but I was wrong because her fever got bad around 3 pm (it’s already 39°C) so I started to panic again. And the worst thing about it is, we no longer have paracetamol and my husband hasn’t arrived yet from his work (I asked him to buy a bottle of paracetamol) and it was raining so badly that Friday afternoon. Few minutes later, my husband arrived and we immediately gave her a dose of medicine. A couple of hours passed, Janine got okay and we’re so thankful for that.
That happening was actually the first time I felt so worried and I don’t want it to happen again. All I wish for is her good health and happy smiles but I know, Janine and I, including her papa JB still have so many  ups and downs to bump into.
Illness… Sadness… stay AWAY from us. Shoo! shoo! shoo!

Let's Help Save Palawan

Hi there, I just signed the online petition to save Palawan’s forests from mining and thought you might want to sign as well.

You can sign it here:

National Geographic named Palawan as one of its top-20 destinations for 2011. It has 17 Key Biodiversity Areas and two UNESCO World Heritage Sites that are at risk from mining.
If we don’t do anything, the future for Palawan’s indigenous people and rare endemic species is bleak. Please sign the petition, then forward this email to some friends and ask them to do the same. We know the strength of People Power, now it’s time for Palawan Power!

Janine's first solid food tasting

My Lil Chinky finally gets her first taste of solid food

The Target: mashed avocado

Her reaction was quite funny and she's still uncomfortable with the taste.
